Blake Vogt continues to take our breath away each week on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ HollywoodLife.com talked EXCLUSIVELY with the magician about what makes him stand out in the competition and more!
When asked what makes his skills as a magician rise above the rest, it’s all about originality for Blake, 27. “I think I stand out because the magic that I am doing is all 100% original from the premise of the tricks to how they are working and I’m trying to tie in my odd, cooky personality to everything I perform as well,” he tells us.
One of the biggest questions fans have about magicians is how they come up with their big tricks. It’s the secret everyone wants to know! Blake explains to us how everything comes to fruition before he hits the stage.
“I do a lot of prototyping,” he says. “I studied design in college so every bad idea I am very aware always comes after a lot of bad ideas. So I sit around all day and come up with 99 bad ideas until that 1 shows up. I will also test smaller versions of tricks on my friends and families and strangers sometimes so I can learn if the trick works.”
The AGT semi-finals start Aug. 30 and the competition is tougher than ever. Blake is up against magician Jon Dorenbos, dance group Malevo, mime act Tape Frace, singer Sal Valentinetti, magician Steven Brundage, Edgar Family Band, comedian Lori Mae Hernandez, singer Grace VanderWaal, stunt couple Deadly Games, music group Musicality and opera singer Laura Bretan. Who will make it out on top? America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
