Taylor Swift has shaken off jury duty! The singer has been excused from serving on a rape case in Nashville because a judge didn’t think she could be impartial due to her involved in a sexual assault case of her own! Keep reading for more of the shocking details on why Tay won’t be showing up at the courthouse every day.
The world was stunned when superstar Taylor Swift, 26, did her civic responsibility and showed up for jury duty in Nashville Aug. 29. But she’s not going to be voting guilty or not guilty about anyone because a judge has excused her from an aggravated rape/kidnapping case. The reason? Taylor has a case pending in Colorado where she was allegedly fondled by a DJ backstage at a concert in 2013. Since the civil case involves an alleged sexual battery against her, Taylor’s ability to be impartial was brought into question and the judge decided it was best to just shake her off of serving on the case.
Former Denver radio DJ David Mueller filed a civil suit against the singer in Sept. 2015 after her security team alleged that he squeezed Tay’s butt during a meet and greet in 2013, and her team then threw him out of the arena. David claims that he never touched Taylor’s tush, that it was a coworker who did and bragged about it. But David ended up losing his job and sued the “Blank Space” singer in civil court. Obviously since she’s involved in a case involving her being the possible victim of sexual battery would be enough for the judge to bounce her off the rape case.
While Taylor won’t be showing up at the courthouse day after day, she made the life of other folks called in to serve jury duty. Ordinary Music City residents were shocked to find themselves sitting in a room with the superstar, who sweetly posed for selfies and other photos and chatted with everyone. Awww that Taylor, spreading magic everywhere she goes….even in a jury room!
