Well, Kanye West did what Kanye West does best at the VMAs: Talk. The rapper went on a crazy rant before premiering his new music video of the 2016 show. Read a full transcription of his speech that dissed Taylor Swift, called out Amber Rose & more here!
To kick things off, Kanye West, 39, started his Video Music Awards speech by acknowledging that his video for “Famous” might not win Video Of The Year — but he made a joke about his 2009 Taylor Swift, 26, interruption that had everyone cracking up. “Later tonight, “Famous” might lose to Beyonce, but I can’t be mad, because I’m always rooting for Beyonce to win!” he cracked. LOL!

Then, he went on to explain the controversial video, and of course, used it as an opportunity to gush over his wife, Kim Kardashian, 35, shade Taylor and more. Read a full transcription below:
“It was an expression of our now, our fame right now. Us, on the inside of the TV. You know, just the audacity to put Anna Wintour right next to Donald Trump, I mean, like, I put Ray J in it, bro! This is fame, bro! Like, I see you Amber [Rose]. My wife is a G! Not a lot of people’s wives would let them say that. We came over in the same boat, now we’re all in the same bed. Well, maybe different boats. But if you think about last week, it was 22 people murdered in Chicago. You know, people come up to me like, ‘Man, that’s right take Taylor,’ and this s***. Bro, like, I love all of y’all — that’s why I called her! So, I was speaking at the art institute last year and one kid came up to me and said, ‘Three of my friends died and I don’t know if I’m going to be the next.’ You have to think, you know when you’re a senior and it’s the last month and you don’t feel like doing any more work? If you feel like you’re seeing people dying right next to you, you might feel like, what’s the point? Like life could start to feel worthless in a way. I know times for me, I sit down and talk to older, rich people. You know? Aka white. And they tell me don’t compare yourself to Steve Jobs, don’t compare yourself to Walt Disney, and my friend told me, they tell me, ‘Don’t compare yourself to these people.’ My friend told me there’s three ways to keeping people impoverished: Taking away their self esteem, taking away their resources and taking away their role models. My role models are artists, merchants, less than 10 that I can name in history: Truman, Ford, Hughes, Disney, Jobs, West. Tonight, we are here to have fun. I’m standing in front of my idol Puff Daddy. I’m standing in front of my wife Kim Kardashian-West. I’m standing in front of the future Chance The Rapper, 2 Chainz, Jaden Smith. Bro, we are undeniably the influence, the thought leaders. I’m going to play y’all a piece of my art and I just hope y’all have a good time.”
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Kanye’s rant?
