Gareth Bale, 27, was the star of Real Madrid’s first La Liga game of the season with Real Sociedad, scoring 72 seconds into the match, per Yibada. Marco Asensio, 20, put Real up 2-0 five minutes before halftime. They could have ended the game there, as Sociedad couldn’t recover in the second half of the game. Gareth came in and put the final nail in the coffin, scoring a third point at the end of the match.
Gareth was practically a one-man-squad, as Real Madrid has been hit hard with the injury bug. Karim Benzema, 28, Keylor Navas, 29, Pepe, 33, and Cristiano Ronaldo, 31, all missed the opener due to injuries. Cristiano, in particular, is dealing with a knee strain he suffered during Portugal’s Euro 2016 win over France on July 10. Ronaldo will sit out this game against Celta Vigo, but he’s expected to return on Sep. 10 against Osasuna, per the International Business Times.
Real Madrid, even with all the unfit players, shouldn’t have a hard time with Celta Vigo. The squad suffered an embarrassing loss on their home turf to CD Leganes, a team that’s participating in La Liga for the first time in the club’s history. This previously minor-league team shocked Celta Vigo, after Victor Diaz, 28, nailed a corner kick at the 75th minute to score the win. Will the same fate befall The Celtics once again? Or can they shock Real Madrid and take the win?
Who do you think will walk away from this game with a victory, HollywoodLifers? Real Madrid or Celta Vigo?
