The MTV Video Music Awards are returning to New York City for their 2016 show, and they are bringing a slew of major performers with them! From Britney Spears to Nick Jonas, here’s the FULL list of artists that will take the stage.
On Sunday, August 28, the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards are hitting the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City. It’s the show’s first time in NYC in three years, and it’s sure to be an incredible time! But, let’s get down to the important stuff… like who is going to perform and blow us all away!
Britney Spears will return to the VMAs stage for the first time since her 2007 performance of “Gimme More” which, unfortunately, was memorable for all the wrong reasons. We can’t wait to watch her make an epic comeback!
Ariana Grande will be performing her new single, “Side To Side,” for the first time with Nicki Minaj. Let’s not forget how Nicki totally shocked us at the 2015 VMAs when she brought out Taylor Swift after rumors of a feud between the two went viral.
Nick Jonas is bringing his oozing sex appeal to the VMAs stage, too. He’s taking a break from his Future Now tour with BFF Demi Lovato, and he won’t be the only Jonas brother in the house, either. Nick’s older brother, Joe, will be in attendance with his band, DNCE, who are hoping to snag the Best New Artist award.
The Chainsmokers and Halsey are bringing their smash summer hit to the 2016 VMAs stage, too! They’ll be performing “Closer,” which seems to be everyone’s favorite song these days.
Future is also set to perform, but there is no word on whether or not his ex, Ciara, and her husband, Russell Wilson, will also attend. Hmm.
Last but certainly not least we have the 2016 Vanguard Award winner, Rihanna, who is will perform as part of her acceptance. Rumors are swirling that she could be performing multiple times throughout the show, but for now we’re just psyched that she’s taking the stage at all!
