SO touching. In a super sweet moment, Prince William offered moving advice to a 14-year-old boy whose mom recently died — a situation William is all too familiar with. Drawing from his own experience with the death of his mother, Princess Diana, the royal told the teen it’s ok to be sad and that he still misses his mom ‘every day.’
Prince William, 34, got emotional during a visit to Keech Hospice Care in Luton, England on August 25, revealing to a young teen who was dealing with a loss that he still misses his own mother, the late Princess Diana, “every day.” The boy, Ben Hines, tragically lost his mother, Alexandra, to cancer last year. William kindly offered him advice on how to deal with the grieving process — and his heartfelt words were spot on!

“Time makes it easier,” he told Ben as he gently rested a hand on the young man’s shoulder. “I know how you feel. I still miss my mother every day — and it’s 20 years after she died.” William even made sure that Ben, his brothers — Thomas, 20, and Richard, 24 — as well as their father, Gary, promised to talk about their feelings, which is something he acknowledged can be hard for men to do since they’re not “great sharers.”
“The important thing is to talk about it as a family,” the prince said. “It’s ok to feel sad. It’s ok for you to miss her.” Is anyone else wiping away tears yet? Gary later expressed to reporters how appreciative he was of William’s obvious, genuine care. “He gave Ben his absolute attention,” he told Us Weekly. “You could see that it struck a chord with him.” Aw!
William’s wife, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, 34, was also present for the visit to Keech Hospice Care as the two toured the facility, learning more about it. They also helped the facility celebrate its 25th anniversary. “[William] and Kate were incredibly caring and interested in what we had to say,” Gary, told BBC Radio 5 Live. “They put us at ease straight away and were genuinely interested and that made the difference.”
We’re not surprised William knew just what to say to the family. After all, he lost his mom in a tragic car crash nearly 19 years ago, on August 31, 1997. The prince was only 15 years old and his younger brother, Prince Harry, was 12.
How sweet was William with Ben, HollywoodLifers? Do you like what he told the teen and his family?
