Taylor Swift never misses a chance to attend the VMAs, but for the Aug. 28 ceremony she’s going to be a no-show despite being in NYC where the awards are going down. Keep reading to see if she’s still upset about getting shut out of the nominations.
Taylor Swift, 26, shockingly came away with zero nominations for the 2016 VMAs, despite having “Wildest Dreams” and “Out of the Woods” that were in contention. As a result, we won’t be treated to any of her front row awkward dancing like we’re so used to every year. But she’s not bitter about the lack of nominations, she was just never planning on going. “Taylor was never scheduled to attend the VMAs,” an insider tells PEOPLE magazine.
She actually does have a song in contention for awards this year, as she wrote ex boyfriend Calvin Harris‘ massive hit “This Is What You Came For” which is up for Best Male Video and Video of the Year. But how awkward would that be to be sitting in the audience watching him pick up trophies for something that was so involved in?!
Not only would she want to avoid any run-in’s with Calvin after their breakup turned so ugly, her arch nemesis Kanye West, 39, and his wife Kim Kardashian, 35. are going to be on hand for the big event as he’s up for a slew of awards. Kim caused a dent to Taylor’s reputation after she leaked audiotape of the singer’s convo with Kanye about being included in the lyrics to “Famous,” so we’re sure Tay would want to avoid these two like the plague.
Besides, this just isn’t Taylor’s time as she justcompletely dominated the VMAs in 2015. She showed up at the ceremony with her girl squad of famous models and went on to win Video of the Year for “Bad Blood.” No one gets to be the queen every year so even Tay knows this is a good ceremony to sit out.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Kanye will say anything about his feud with Taylor at the VMAs?
