We’re all excited to see an inside look at Britney Spears’ life in her Lifetime biopic — but it may not be as true as you were hoping. Britney Spears has not at all approved the movie, and will NOT be contributing.
“Britney Spears will not be contributing in any way, shape or form to the Lifetime biopic, nor does it have her blessing,” her rep told HollywoodLife.com in a statement. Lifetime announced the film on August 24, which will star Natasha Bassett as Britney and will air as a two-hour film. It’s not too surprising that Britney will not approve it. The movie will take a look at the ups and downs of her life, including her tabloid-frenzy relationship with Justin Timberlake, her short marriage to Jason Alexander, and her life with Kevin Federline that gave her two children.
Lifetime has made previous unauthorized films based on the lives of Whitney Houston, the casts of Full House and Saved by the Bell, so this doesn’t come as a surprise either. Those movies also didn’t show the talent in focus in the best light, so it’s not shocking that she won’t be giving her blessing.
Plus, we know Brit is trying to focus on her new music. She is set to release her ninth studio album Glory on August 25, and will be performing at the Apple Music Festival as well as the MTV Video Music Awards. We also know that she’s in talks to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. She
She told BBC Radio she would need a “little” help performing but would love to do with other stars. “Definitely not on my own! I would have to have a little support there. Another artist, of course. I don’t think you would ever do the Super Bowl alone, that would be kind of scary. I don’t think I would be able to do it.”
Will you watch Britney’s biopic?
