Work it, Serena Williams! After the tennis legend finished a photo shoot in New York City, Serena hit up Brooklyn for a bite to eat – and some dancing! Serena’s twerking lit up Snapchat as she rocked the dance floor. Click to watch.
There’s no denying it: Serena, 34, has got some moves! In videos shared on her Snapchat on Aug. 22, Serena’s dance skills were on display. After a hard day’s work, she decided to have some fun in Brooklyn and it didn’t take long for her to shake her badonkadonk. Along with her friends, Serena twerked, bounced and grooved to the music.
This dance party almost didn’t happen! Prior to her amazing display of “twerkmanship,” Serena was busy at work in the Big Apple. “I’m on set of this shoot where I have to be physically active,” she said, “and my calf just started cramping. I’m like ‘I never cramp.'” After stretching and drinking the Gatorade she usually has while winning tennis matches, it seems Serena was in shape to go out partying in BK.
It’s no surprise that Serena got to booty-shaking. On Aug. 2, she gave an instructional class on twerking. In a video for SELF magazine, the 2016 Wimbledon winner showed how to shimmy and twerk like a champion. Plus, she even twerked at the Olympics opening ceremony!
While Serena gets the gold medal for backside-bouncing, she left Rio 2016 empty handed. She and her sister, Venus Williams, 36, suffered their first ever Olympics doubles loss as they were eliminated from the tournament. Many hoped that Serena could overcome this defeat and take the women’s singles gold, but Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine beat her in two sets.
Serena still has a chance to end her summer on a high note. The U.S. Open takes place from Aug. 29 to Sep. 11. For Serena, this is a chance to avenge her heartbreaking 2015 loss. A year ago, she was so close to completing a calendar grand slam, the first since Steffi Graff’s sweep in 1988.
Unfortunately for her, Roberta Vinci, 33, pulled off the upset, denying Serena that place in the history books. If Serena can secure the win at the 2016 U.S. Open, she would definitely have a reason to smile – and to dance!
What do you think about Serena’s twerking skills, HollywoodLifers? Do you think she’s going to win the U.S. Open?
