It’s all over for the Dudley Boyz! Nearly a full year after returning to the WWE, the tag team said goodbye on the Aug. 22 episode of ‘Monday Night Raw.’ Watch their last message to fans and brutal final fight right here.
Yep, it happened — the Dudley Boyz, a WWE tag team duo made up of half-brothers Bubba Ray and D-Von, retired on this week’s Monday Night Raw. After more than 20 years in the business, it finally came time for things to come to an end for the brothers, and it was quite an emotional goodbye.
The guys actually just returned to the WWE one year ago in hopes of winning their 10th tag team championship. But, after a year full of ups and downs, they were unable to achieve that goal, and have decided to officially call it quits.
“It’s been a hell of a year. Some ups, some downs, some wins, some losses. Sometimes you guys have loved us, sometimes you guys have hated us,” Bubba Ray said on Monday Night Raw. “But at the end of the day, we knew in our hearts that every single one of you always respected us because we busted our a** for you 20 years.”
D-Von added, “The WWE has been my home and it always will be. If it wasn’t for you, the WWE Universe, there would be no Dudley Boyz.”
As it usually goes in the WWE, the guys did not go out on top. Although they easily took out the Shining Stars duo, they just couldn’t come back against Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, and were pummeled by the tag team before exiting the ring.
“Our work here is done,” Bubba Ray tweeted after Raw. “THANK YOU to @WWE @WWEUniverse and “the boys”. Was our pleasure to see all of you again. See ya down the road.” Hey, if the guys do decide to ever come back, there’s clearly a perfectly set-up feud between them, Anderson and Gallows now…
