Alright, enough is enough. Is Ashley I. a crier? Yes. Is she in love with Jared and having a hard time moving on? Sure. Does she deserve all the hate? Not so much.
Let’s start from the top, shall we? Ashley I. and Jared met each other last summer on Bachelor in Paradise and she fell for him hard. He kind of led her on, but was just trying to figure out where his head was at and ultimately, they ended up just being friends. However, for the past year, they’ve stayed really close — they know each other’s families, they go on vacation together, etc.
That brings us to now, Bachelor in Paradise season three, where Ashley claims she came to get over Jared but knew he would be there so, yes, part of her hoped something would spark up — and she got upset seeing him with Caila.
Now, I’m not saying she doesn’t come off as obsessive. Sure, she does — but what girl hasn’t fallen really hard for a guy? If that guy spent a year being beyond sweet to you (and even sleeping in the same bed as you), you’re telling me that him saying he didn’t have feelings would make you A-OK seeing him with someone else? I call BS.
Jared over all is a nice guy. During an episode of After Paradise, Ashley explained she had false hope from all the sweet things that had led her on over the past year; then she said that in his mind, he’s just being super sweet because that’s who he is.
We all also know that she’s a crier. She’s an emotional girl — hey, I can’t not cry in a rom-com no matter how bad it is; some people just cry when they’re sad. Sure, it’s funny that ABC cut together all her crying moments into one loud sob to make it look like that’s all she did.
But let’s remember this is a real person who seems to really want to find love. Yes, it’s reality TV, but hey we have seen relationship actually come out of it. So while everyone is throwing around the words “crazy” and “obsessive,” let’s just take a second and remember what it felt like when you got your heartbroken after you were convinced someone was your soulmate.
During last night’s episode, Ashley — who actually has quite the good sense of humor when it comes to herself — tweeted that she was embarrassed by the episode, and that in the end she’s just “hopelessly optimistic.” If you ask me, we could use more of that in today’s world.
