Oh, no! The legendary Aretha Franklin was forced to cancel concerts for a month due to doctors orders — but why?
Aretha Franklin may be 74 years old, but up until August 22 she was still performing non-stop. Sadly, that has now come to a brief end as her doctor’s have suggested that she take a month long rest from the stage, reports People.
The news came via a statement from Aretha herself and read, “Due to doctors’ orders I will have to cancel a few concerts for the next month or so.” This includes two huge events for the superstar, such as her solo show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the Tony Bennett Celebrates 90 concert she was set to be involved in.
Unfortunately Aretha did not clarify what has her doctors concerned, but whatever it is must be serious for her to need a month or more time of rest. However, the “RESPECT” singer reportedly has every intention of returning to the stage as soon as November 2016. Fingers crossed that she makes the epic return that she deserves when the time is right!
It is no secret that Aretha has struggled from some health problems in recent years. In 2010 she underwent surgery for a tumor, and revealed a year later that her doctors told her she had just added ten or fifteen years to her life. She has also been open about her struggle with her weight, which escalated after she quit smoking for good in 1992 as she later revealed in 2003.
