Now that Speedo and Ralph Lauren have dropped Ryan Lochte from their endorsement deals, what is he going to do? While he may be a liar, he certainly isn’t a quitter! Ryan hopes to work with kids in the near future and teach them about owning up to their mistakes. Watch below!
Poor Ryan Lochte, 32. The Olympic swimmer can’t seem to catch a break following his charade of over-exaggerations surrounding the infamous Rio robbery scandal. One by one, both his endorsement partners AND members of his swim team have turned against him, but we have to give him props for finding the silver lining! Ryan wants to use this opportunity to teach kids about growing up and admitting when they’ve screwed up. Watch his interview below.
With the fate of Ryan’s swimming career in the hands of the USOC (United States Olympic Committee), it’s time for the athlete to start considering other career paths. His first alternate choice would be “working with kids and teaching them things that I’ve learned throughout my swimming career cause I have so much love and passion for the sport and I just want to make it bigger,” he explains to TMZ.
Going back to the beginning, Ryan found himself in this sticky situation thanks to a little not-so-white lie he told the Rio police during the Olympics. One night after drinking in the city, Ryan and other #TeamUSA swimmers stopped by a gas station to use the restroom. On their way out, the gas station owner noticed the swimmers had damaged his store’s sign and demanded that they pay to fix it. That’s when the gun was pulled out. Ryan gave the guy a $50 and pretty much ran from the scene. When he reported the crime, Rio police couldn’t find ANY witnesses to back up his story, which convinced officials that Ryan was lying. Turns out, he was, and it got him into A LOT of trouble.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Ryan would make a good mentor for kids?
