Whoops! ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum Patrick Dempsey accidentally started talking about erections during a Sunday, Aug. 21, appearance on the Australian morning TV show ‘Today,’ and it was pretty hilarious. Watch the funny video here!
Patrick Dempsey, 50, who was being interviewed alongside his Bridget Jones’s Baby co-star, Renee Zellweger, was asked to demonstrate his best Australian accent during the Aug. 21 appearance, but instead of doing that, he attempted to show off how much he knew about slang terms from Down Under. Unfortunately, that quickly turned into a disaster.
“Traveller,” he said, as seen in the video above. “Traveller’s a beer you travel with, right?” (Uh, not quite, Patrick.)
Today cohost Richard Wilkins immediately started laughing and told Patrick the world “traveller” has a very different meaning — one that probably shouldn’t be shared on live TV. “You’re not supposed to say that!”
“What’s a traveller? Have I alienated everyone in the country?” Patrick then asked.
For those of you who don’t know, a “traveller” is “used to describe an erection that a man gets while using public transportation,” according to Us Weekly.
“All the blokes who are watching are sitting upright now,” Richard said.
The interview eventually went in a different direction, but towards the end of the segment, Patrick demanded someone tell him what “traveller” means. “What the heck is a traveller?” he asked.
Richard whispered into Patrick’s ear, telling him what it means, and then he reacted nervously, “Oh, excuse me.” So funny!
Bridget Jones’s Baby hits theaters Friday, September 16.
