Now, what should you expect to see at the Olympics closing ceremony? The specific details of the massive event are being kept under wraps, but what’s already been revealed is magnificent:
A celebration of the “Best of Brazil”
The 2016 Olympic games were hosted by Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, so it’s only fitting that there will be a tribute to the country, and what makes it great. Expect nods to Brazilian culture, and a beautiful party to celebrate “all what’s best in Brazil,” according to closing ceremony creative supervisor Abel Gomes.
Simone Biles will be the USA flag bearer!
After winning four gold medals at the 2016 Olympics, there’s really no one more qualified to be tasked with this honor. Expect to see Simone lead the way for the rest of Team USA as they march the stadium in the parade of athletes.
Another parade of athletes?
Yes! But this is parade is much more amped than the one you saw at the opening ceremony. For one thing, the pace will be much quicker, and the athletes will be loaded with medals. Not to mention, they’ll be pumped from their experiences at the games. It’s going to be so fun to see!
A performance by Kygo!
Insanely popular Norwegian electronic tropical musician Kygo was raised in Brazil, and will return to the place he used to call home to perform at the closing ceremony. He’s expected to perform “Carry Me” with vocalist Julia Michaels, and is calling it a huge milestone in his career.
Pele may be there!
This is exciting. Soccer legend Pele was unable to light the torch at the Olympics opening ceremony due to health issues, but hinted on Twitter on August 19 that he may be well enough to make it to tonight’s proceedings: “I am continuing my physiotherapy and focused on joining you for the closing festivities on August 21. I love you!”
