Look who’s back! Niki Bella made her triumphant return to the WWE at ‘SummerSlam,’ on Aug. 21, after recovering from what could have been career-ending surgery. Nikki proved she was still on top, securing a victory in a crazy tag match!
It wouldn’t be sports entertainment’s biggest party of the summer without a few surprise guests! You never know who’s going to drop in, and when the WWE rolled into the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York on Aug. 21, Nikki Bella, 32, knew they had to be there! Since there was an opening in the women’s six-woman tag match, the former Divas champ figured she would help herself to the vacant spot.
Nikki joined Natalya, 34, and Alexa Bliss, 25, to take on Carmella, 28, Becky Lynch, 29, and Naomi, 28. The action was fast and furious between these women superstars. Nikki then hit the TKO, and secured the pinfall and the victory!

The WWE Universe was wondering if Nikki would make her return at SumerSlam. The former Divas Champion has been out of action, as she underwent neck surgery in Jan. 2016. Nikki was reportedly spotted in New York City ahead of the event in Brooklyn, per 411 Wrestling, leading some to guess that she would take Eva Marie’s, 31, place in the epic six-woman tag match.
Eva was supposed to finally make her in-ring debut (following her time in NXT) at SummerSlam, but she was suspended following a violation of the WWE’s Wellness Policy on Aug. 17. Eva’s husband, Jonathan Coyle, slammed the 30-day suspension, tweeting, “When the public finds out why my wife was unjustly suspended they will be absolutely outraged!” The exact cause of Eva’s suspension was still unknown by SummerSlam, but what was known is that Eva was not the only one punished.
WWE’s power couple, Paige, 24, and Alberto Del Rio, 39, were both hit with Wellness violations and given suspensions. Unlike Eva, however, neither Paige nor Alberto were scheduled to perform at SummerSlam. Paige has been on the shelf, recovering from injuries from the rough and tumble life of a wrestler, per Fox Sports.
There have been rumors that Bill Goldberg, 49, was going to make his return to the WWE ring. The former WCW champion and WWE superstar has been semi-retired from wrestling, but after Brock Lesnar, 39, called him out, many fans wondered if the man who had the longest undefeated streak in World Championship Wrestling would battle “The Beast Incarnate” one more time
What do you think about this crazy SummerSlam return, HollywoodLifers? Is this your favorite WWE event of the year?
