Rocker Matt Roberts, the former guitarist for 3 Doors Down, tragically died at the too-young age of 38 on August 21. Matt died of an apparent overdose on pills, according to his father.
Matt Roberts‘ father, Darrell Roberts, told TMZ that they were just outside of Wisconsin so Matt could perform at a charity function. Matt had rehearsal until about 1:00am, and afterward the father and son went back to their adjoining rooms at their hotel. Darrell was horribly woken up at 9:00am by detectives, who informed him that Matt had fatally overdosed alone in his room overnight.
Darrell believes the overdose, reportedly on prescription pills, was accidental. Matt was the guitarist for 3 Doors Down, the band known for their hit “Kryptonite”, until 2012, when he was forced to leave due to health issues; he reportedly had problems concerning blood circulation.
