Get ready to Fear The Walking Dead once again! The ‘Walking Dead’ spinoff series returns for its second half of season 2, and fans are buzzing about what’s going to happen. Catch up on everything you need to know ahead of the big Aug. 21 premiere right here!
The last time we saw the Fear The Walking Dead characters in the May 22 mid-season 2 finale, “Shiva,” the survivors were separated as they are now in post-zombie-apocalypse Mexico. After spending a majority of the first half of the season aboard a yacht, the characters will remain land-bound in the second half. Want some other facts to know before watching the Aug. 21 episode? We got you — but be warned, there are some spoilers ahead!
Let’s start with a few things to remember from where the last Fear The Walking Dead episode left off. Strand was expected to commit suicide in order to be with Thomas, his dead lover, but instead he shot Thomas which meant he couldn’t return as a zombie. Strand was then banned from the compound, along with Madison and the others. Travis and Chris are setting out on their own to help Chris better adapt to the zombie apocalypse. And perhaps one of the most crazy things to happen was Daniel setting the gasoline-filled cell on fire, as he didn’t make it out alive. To top it all off, Nick decided in the end of the episode that he would walk among the dead instead of join the others. Talk about a lot happening, huh?
So now we get into what to expect for the eight remaining episodes for the season. First off, the season 2B premiere is called “Grotesque.” Considering this show is just about as grotesque as TV can get, we’re thinking the show’s creators have really turned up the gnarly scenes and can’t-watch moments. In fact, that’s exactly what Lorenzo James Henrie (Chris) promises!
“The violence side is definitely at a higher factor now. It’s just crazy. This episode coming this Sunday is very, very different from anything The Walking Dead franchise has ever done,” Lorenzo said in an interview with DigitalTrends.com. “It’s shot so beautifully, but also Frank (Dillane) gives such a good performance, and you’re going to be seeing a take on Mexican culture that really puts a twist on the show.”
The group now being in Mexico also means there will be new people introduced, as well as a chance for more exploration in a new place. No matter how hard fans try to anticipate what’s going to happen, Fear The Walking Dead‘s creators have a way of adding a new shock factor with every episode, and it sounds like that’s what to expect in the rest of season 2!
Fear The Walking Dead returns to AMC at 9 p.m. EST on Aug. 21, so be sure to tune in!
