Swim cap? Check. Goggles? Check. Gold medal? We hope! Both men’s semifinal and final 10m platform competitions kick-off on Aug. 20 at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. If you don’t want to miss a second of the Speedo-filled action, you’ve come to the perfect place! Watch it LIVE online, right here.
#TeamUSA hasn’t received a gold medal in diving yet, but don’t give up hope, there are still TWO more competitions left in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Starting on Aug. 20 are both the men’s semifinals and finals 10m platform diving events, where you will be able to watch handsome Americans Steele Johnson, 20, and David Boudia, 27, compete. The semifinals begin at 10:00am EST and the finals begin the same day at 3:30pm EST. WATCH THE MEN’S 10m DIVING SEMIFINALS AND FINALS HERE.
So far the USA swim team has won the most gold medals out of all the Olympic sports, followed by track and field. Currently, the USA holds two silver medals in diving. China holds the highest ranking in diving with a total of nine gold medals, but we think #TeamUSA can make a solid comeback! Just in case you missed any of the diving action from previous days, Kristian Ipsen came in 3rd in the men’s 3m springboard preliminary round on Aug. 15, with Michael Hixon coming in at 10th.
Looking forward to the upcoming competition, Steele sheepishly admits that he’s had some diving accidents in the past. “I hit my head on the 10m platform which took me out for a long time,” he confessed to NBC. “But more recently, I had a broken ankle which I ended up diving on throughout my entire collegiate and international season of 2015. The trainers wanted to take me out to get surgery, but I ended up just diving on the ankle and would wear a boot and crutches all day outside of the pool.” Now that’s some serious dedication! Here’s hoping nothing goes wrong on Aug. 20!
