The plot thickens! It’s been revealed that Ryan Lochte and his Olympic teammates partied with girls at the Club France event they were attending on Aug. 13 hours before the ‘robbery’ incident occurred, and police say that the interactions may have served as a motive for Ryan & Co. to lie about what happened at the gas station. Here are the details!
Well, it may not shock you to hear that Ryan Lochte, 32, and his friends partied and reportedly made out with girls at a club while burning off steam in Rio on Aug. 13 into the early hours of the next day, but that’s what happened, according to Fernando Veloso, chief of the Rio de Janeiro police investigative division. He said on Aug. 18 that a driver had spoken to the police about driving “two young women who left the event”, and apparently the driver gleaned info from them.
“These young women…had made out with the swimmers,” Veloso claimed, and therefore they “had a reason to tell a story that wasn’t true”. Yes, that would be awkward, considering many of them have girlfriends.
Laura Gazzinelli, 18, and Mariana Belisario, 18, posted on Instagram about meeting Ryan at Club France, but it’s unclear as to whether these are the same girls Veloso referred to. In the photo, you can see a grinning Ryan posing between the two fans, and the photo, which Laura captioned “celebrating the medals”, was reportedly taken about an hour before Ryan and his teammates left the venue.
Laura then allegedly told friends in the comments section that she had been invited by Ryan to hang out in the athletes’ VIP section, and another user commented that she was “jealous”, but Laura has since made her Instagram and Twitter profiles private.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Ryan lied because he and his teammates didn’t want their girlfriends to know they’d been partying with other girls?
