Rosie O’Donell, 54, and her formerly estranged daughter, Chelsea O’Donnell, are putting a solid effort towards burying the hatchet. The View star took to Instagram on Aug. 18, letting her 188k followers know that their relationship is still on the mends. While sharing a snap of the two posing side-by-side, Rosie wrote, “what a difference a year makes #hopelives.” So awesome! Rosie and Chelsea looked comfortable as can be, sporting no makeup for their candid selfie, which has already garnered over 6,000 likes. We’re so happy to see this family working towards a brighter future — together!
As you’ll recall, Chelsea went missing last year after running away from their Nyack, New York home. Two weeks later, police located her with her older boyfriend Steven M. Sheerer, 25. When Chelsea finally turned 18, she left Rosie’s household to go live with her birth mother in Wisconsin. While Rosie claimed it was Chelsea’s choice to hit the road, Chelsea said that her mom gave her the boot. Chelsea eventually dished on her side of the story: “Just like many 18-year-olds, I am simply just trying to find my OWN identity through life and that hasn’t been easy a lot of times always being in the public eye as a child, and not by choice,” she revealed to Entertainment Tonight.
Chelsea and Rosie were first seen making amends on June 20, smiling ear-to-ear as they posed with each other at Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Cabaret Cruise in NYC. The mother-daughter pair reportedly even belted out a tune together, singing a duet of “Alexander Hamilton” from the popular Broadway play. Fast forward to now, and the ladies are still going strong! Kudos!
