LochteGate has taken another shocking turn! Though Ryan Lochte has claimed he was robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro, his teammates — Jack Conger and Gunner Bentz – reportedly said Ryan made it all up!
It seems like Ryan Lochte, 32, has jumped out of the Rio 2016 Olympics pool and into some hot water. After claiming that he and his swim team were robbed, a Brazilian police official has told the Associated Press that Ryan’s teammates, Jack Conger, 21, and Gunner Bentz, 20, confessed that the tale was completely “fabricated,” per ESPN.
The swimmers admitted that they made the whole story up after they were pulled off a flight headed back to the United States. The Brazilian police official also backed up the report that instead of getting robbed by gunpoint, the U.S. Olympians actually got into a fight with a gas station attendant!
Around 6 A.M. on Aug. 14, Ryan, Gunner, Jack and Jimmy Feigen, 26, stopped at a gas station in Barra da Tijuca, a suburb of Rio. One of the swimmers reportedly tried to open a locked door to an outside bathroom. After a while, the swimmers allegedly broke down the door to get access to the restroom. When you got to go, you got to go, it seems. However, this damage caused a security guard to confront them. Though the guard was armed with a pistol, the Brazilian police official claims the guard never pointed it at the simmers.
Adding further fuel to the claim that Ryan lied – the whole incident was caught on CCTV! Security footage taken at the gas station shows the swimmers rushing to the bathroom. They are then forced to get out of their taxi with their hands up. The Brazilian police official claims that the swimmers paid an unknown amount of money for the damage they allegedly caused, before getting into their car and driving away.
If this is the case, the question is – why did Ryan lie about getting robbed? What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Did Ryan make up a story to cover up his bad behavior? Or do you think there’s more to this story?
