Before she took home bronze for the US in Women’s Beach Volleyball with teammate Kerri Walsh Jennings, April Ross told us all about her Olympic routine. From her flat abs diet to her beauty regimen, see what April had to say, ahead.
It’s no surprise that April Ross, 34, has an insane workout routine. Not only does the Olympic athlete have to keep up her stamina on the beach volleyball court, but she also has to do it all in a bikini. To stay in the best shape possible ahead of the games, April, who just took home the bronze medal and won silver at the 2012 Olympics, also incorporates weight lifting and cardio into her daily routine.
And while her diet is as healthy as you would expect, you might be surprised by how much she eats each day. “My typical diet is a breakfast sandwich in the morning on an everything bagel with eggs, cheddar, onion, tomato and avocado,” April told HollywoodLife. “Post-practice I snack on an Uncrustable PB&J, and for lunch I go to Lemonade and usually get two side salads and either salmon or seared ahi. After weights I have a Gatorade, protein shake and sometimes a bar if it was a super hard workout,” she continued on how important it is to fuel her body with all of the exercising she’s doing.
“For dinner, it’s most likely a huge veggie salad with Tahini dressing. Sometimes I’ll add extra plant-based protein with Beyond Meat products. And I’ve found to appease my sweet tooth I can have a few squares of 70%+ dark chocolate for dessert,” April shared.
But it’s not just her incredibly toned body that has us in awe. Despite spending the day out in the sun, April’s blonde locks still manage to stay shiny and smooth post-match. Always opting to wear her hair up in a simple braid, April told us her go-to product for keeping her hair healthy. “Being in the sun and on the beach all day really dries my hair out and since it runs on the dry side already, I need to heavily condition frequently,” she said. “I like to use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist as a deep conditioning treatment a few times a week to keep my hair hydrated,” April, who teamed up with the brand during the Olympics revealed.
