Oh my god, this is getting serious! Two American swimmers, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz, were yanked off their plane home from Rio on Aug. 17 after police revealled that they think the athletes and Ryan Lochte were lying about being held up at gunpoint. We have the shocking details, right here.
This just keeps getting crazier! Two of the swimmers that said they here held up at gunpoint with Ryan Lochte in the early hours of Aug. 14 have now been denied their chance to go home to America. On Aug. 17, Jack Cogner and Gunnar Bentz were boarded on a plane ready to leave Rio, when authorities pulled them off.
The guys had been charged with lying about the scary incident after police found some inconsistencies with their stories. Ryan was lucky and made it back to America before the police made the shocking decision, but Jack and Gunnar weren’t so lucky. Authorities snagged then at the very last second, minutes before takeoff. USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky confirmed the situation, saying “Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were removed from their flight to the United States by Brazilian authorities. We are gathering further information.”
We seriously hope that the swimmers aren’t lying about the horrifying ordeal. Ryan explained that he and three friends (including Jack and Gunnar) were returning from a party outside of the Olympic village when men posing as police held them up at gun point. “They pulled us over,” Lochte said. “They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground.” So scary! We hope the Americans can get cleared and sent home ASAP!
HollywoodLifers, do you think that Ryan should have stayed in Brazil like Jack and Gunnar? Should they be allowed to go home? Share your thoughts with us!
