Bump, set, spike to victory! Men’s volleyball is still in the preliminaries, but that doesn’t mean that these games aren’t going to be totally intense. Team USA and Mexico face off on Aug. 15, along with a handful of other great match ups. Don’t miss any of the action with a live stream here!
The U.S. men’s volleyball team hasn’t had an easy time in Pool A of the Rio Olympics, suffering tough losses to Canada and Italy in their first two matches. But after bouncing back with big 3-1 victories over Brazil and France, surely the guys are ready to take on their last preliminary opponent, Mexico, in hopes of breaking into the quarterfinals at the last minute. Their game began at 10:35 a.m. ET, so tune into that and then continue watching some epic volleyball all day!
With Aug. 15 being the last day of preliminaries, there’s a lot of pressure riding on several Pool A teams, as many are tied at 6 points. The other Pool A match ups, Italy vs. Canada and Brazil vs. France take place a bit later than the U.S. game (7:30 p.m. ET and 9:35 p.m. ET, respectively). Before those games, Pool B finishes their games with a match between Russia and Iran (2:00 p.m. ET) and Poland vs. Cuba (4:05 p.m. ET). Plenty of awesome volleyball to watch!
If the U.S. team can’t pull out a win, we sadly may not get to cheer for Team USA in men’s volleyball anymore in the 2016 Olympics. Mexico has yet to win a match in Rio, only winning one game in four matches. While they don’t have chance to make it to the quarterfinals, they’ll surely be looking to at least go home with one match win under their belts — so the U.S. team better come out in full force!
As for the other Pool A teams, it’s a tight race to the quarterfinals, so it’ll likely come down to the very last game before anything is determined. Pool B’s quarterfinal teams are already determined, with Argentina, Poland, Russia, and Iran clinching spots. Hopefully USA will be joining them, because this is going to get more and more exciting!
