Lady Mary is giving us hope! Michelle Dockery teased that a ‘Downton Abbey’ movie is not out of the question. The actress revealed that there is definitely ‘potential’ for a movie to happen in the near future!
“I think there is potential for a film,” Michelle, 34, said in an interview with U.K.’s The Telegraph. “That is something I would wholeheartedly consider, so we will see. It may not be over yet.”
The series came to a close after six seasons in 2016. Michelle starred as Lady Mary for the series’ entire run. Although she still has hope for a movie, Michelle believes the show ended at the right time.
“Downton Abbey was an incredible journey for six years and we were very sad to say goodbye, but it was the right time and it was very exciting actually leaving and going on to something like this and a whole new path in my career,” she admitted.
However, the cast of Downton Abbey is and always will be family to each other, so it was tough to part after spending so much time together. “The thing that I miss the most are my cast members,” she revealed. “But we are all still very close.”
The possibility of a Downton Abbey movie has been talked about ever since the show ended. At Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys event in April 2016, Lesley Nicol, 63, who played Mrs. Patmore, revealed that she had heard creator Julian Fellowes, 66, was “possibly writing a script.”
While the cast and the fans anxiously await a movie, Michelle is staying busy. She’s got a starring role on TNT’s new show Good Behavior, and her character is the complete opposite of Lady Mary. Her character is a thief and a con artist! Michelle has also been cast in the Netflix series Godless, which will premiere in 2017.
