Brendan Dassey is going to Wrestlemania! As long as the ‘Making A Murderer’ star actually gets out of prison, that is. Wrestler Sean Waltman (AKA X-Pac) has offered up tickets to Steven Avery’s nephew now that his conviction has been overturned. Here’s the scoop!
The story comes full circle! One of the most devastating moments of Making A Murderer was when Brendan Dassey, the nephew of Steven Avery who was also arrested for the rape and murder of Teresa Halbach, complained to his mom that he was missing Wrestlemania because they wouldn’t let him watch it in prison. It was truly a moment of clarity, where viewers could see a scared 17-year-old kid who was in such a dire situation and naively just wanted to watch wrestling. Well, a decade later his conviction has been overturned, and he may finally get the chance to see Wrestlemania – in person!
Wrestler X-Pac (whose real name is Sean Waltman, told Pro Wrestling Sheet that he was a big fan of the Netflix documentary, and had even thought about going to visit Brendan in prison to cheer him up a bit. Now that Brendan could soon be getting out from behind bars, X-Pac is “happy” for him, and will gladly give him tickets to the next big show!
As soon as it was revealed that Brendan’s conviction had been overturned by a federal court on Aug. 11, fans began reaching out to the WWE to get him into the big wrestling event, and some even talked about starting a GoFundMe account to raise money to get him tickets. Looks like that won’t be necessary now!
However, there are some concerns. Though the judge ruled that Brendan’s rights were infringed upon when he was brought in for questioning without a parent back when he was a teenager and was ordered to be released, the defense still has 90 days to appeal the decision. If they do, it will mean more time in jail, even if Brendan is found to be innocent again. We hope he gets out because we would LOVE to see him finally fulfill his dreams after a decade of injustice.
