On your mark! Olympic Track & Field action will begin on Aug. 12th when athletes from all over the world will run, jump, and throw for their chance at gold. Medals will be on the line in three of the many events competing. Catch all the Track & Field events from Rio online beginning on day 7 of the Olympics at 8:30am EST.
The Track & Field competition in Rio will be kicking off on day 7 of 2016 Olympic games with a wide array of events featuring athletes from all over the world. On this first day of track events fans will get to enjoy: men’s 800m, women’s shot put, women’s 100m, men’s 400m, and many more contests in preliminary rounds. The three events which will feature medals at stake include: women’s shot put, women’s 10,000m, and men’s 20km walk. WATCH OLYMPICS TRACK & FIELD ONLINE HERE.
In the women’s 10,000m finals medal race, American runner Emily Infeld will be doing her best to beat the international field. Racers from Japan, Italy, Kenya, Australia and more countries will be challenging Emily for a spot on the podium. Keep an eye on this race which is set to pop-off at 10:10am EST.
The second medal competition, on day 1 of track & field, is the women’s shot put finals. Participants in that event will be announced prior to the competition at 9pm EST. Then there is the walking finals. Who knew that walking was an Olympic event? Well, it is. It looks like these competitors are doing what is more commonly called speed-walking but the Olympics calls it just walking. Day 1 on the track features the final medal round for 20km walk and the international field features walkers from Brazil, Kenya, China and more countries, but no Americans.
