Woo! The entire ‘Making A Murderer’ fandom is collectively losing their minds on Aug. 12, because Steven Avery’s nephew Brendan Dassey was ordered to be released from prison after making a ‘false confession’ of raping and killing Teresa Halbach. Here’s the scoop!
What a day! Brendan Dassey was ordered by a Milwaukee federal court to be released from prison! The now-26-year-old was thrown in prison a decade ago when he was basically tricked into admitting that he raped and murdered Teresa Halbach with his uncle Steven Avery. The harrowing (and infuriatingly unfair) story was chronicled by Netflix series Making A Murderer, and immediately gripped the attention of the world.
Naturally, fans of the show who believe Brendan is innocent are losing their minds at the new happy news! Brendan could be out of jail as soon as 90 days from the ruling on Aug. 12, provided the defense doesn’t try to appeal the decision. The amazing court decision gives fans hope that perhaps one day Steven will join Brendan in freedom.
Fans all over the world are celebrating the big news, rushing to Twitter to share their joy at Brendan hopefully walking free soon. However, many other fans are worried that it’s too good to be true. Many are sure court will appear the decision, and others believe that even if Brendan gets out, he will soon be accused of something else (like what happened to Steven after his first prison sentence.) We have all of the most passionate reaction to the big news, right here:

Guaranteed prosecution will refile charges against Brendan Dassey – still a way to go before justice can be done #MakingAMurderer
