Thomas Gibson has reportedly been suspended from ‘Criminal Minds’ after he allegedly kicked a writer on the set. The actor, who has played Special Agent Aaron Hotchner for over a decade, has been banned from the show for two weeks. But the length of his suspension is still unknown.
Thomas, 54, has been suspended from Criminal Minds for at least one and maybe two episodes after a physical fight with a producer on the set, according to our sister site Deadline. The fight involved Thomas allegedly kicking the producer in the leg.
The actor was directing and acting in a scene a few weeks ago when he got into a creative argument with a writer, TMZ reports. The disagreement spiraled out of control and Thomas “exploded in anger.” Thomas claims he got physical “in retaliation” after the writer became “aggressive.”
“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement,” Thomas told the outlet. “I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and always will.”
His directing stint on Criminal Minds was also scrapped following the shocking incident. The show plans to continue production on season 12 without him. Thomas has reportedly been written off the episodes during his suspension. Thomas is an original cast member of the show, but his job could be in jeopardy. Our sister site reports that the inside “future status on the show under review.”
This is just the latest shakeup to the Criminal Minds cast. Shemar Moore, 46, who had been a series regular on the show since its premiere in 2005, left the show at the end of season 11. Will season 12 see another original cast member go?
