Green Day has always been up with the times when it comes to their music, and their upcoming eleventh album, Revolution Radio, will continue to follow in those footsteps. On Thursday, August 11, the band dropped the album’s first single, “Bang Bang,” which dives into the mind of someone who might be responsible for taking lives in a horrific manner.
“There’s this sort of rage happening, but it’s also now being filmed and we all have ourselves under surveillance,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, explained to Rolling Stone. “To me, that is so twisted. To get into the brain of someone like that was freaky. It freaked me out.”

In the interview, Billie also revealed that it was marching in a Black Lives Matter protest that helped inspire the album’s title. “I was just watching this controlled chaos, and it was going and happening all over the country. I was feeling that people don’t want to feel obsolete in the things that we care about,” he shared.
Green Day’s new album, Revolution Radio, is due out on October 7.
