Christina Grimmie fans can remember her one last time with a series of music videos she filmed before her devastating death, and the first one has arrived. Watch the first ‘Snow White’ video right here.
In the video, Christina plays a girl named Jessica Blue, who seems to be pretty lost in both her career and her love life. Before singing about the day her “prince will come,” Jess looks to her friends for advice on what to do about her boyfriend who she thinks would be happier with someone else. After the song, Jess insinuates that she feels like she can’t do anything right — and her friend simply tells her to let her feet follow her heart.
“Snow White” is the first video in Christina’s The Ballad of Jessica Blue series, which she began filming in February as part of a video accompaniment to her four-song Side A EP she released the same month. Her family released “Snow White” (the first song on the EP) to Billboard on Aug. 11 and will be releasing the remaining three videos for the songs “Anybody’s You,” “Deception,” and “Without Him” in the next few weeks. The remaining videos will follow Jess’ story as she deals with finding the right boy and finding her voice at the same time.
Christina’s camp announced in a July 26 statement that the month of August would mark the visual celebration of Side A, as Christina worked hard for four days straight — including six hours of choreography” to film these videos for her fans. Her team asked that fans tweet #ChristinaGrimmie anytime they watch the videos to get Christina’s name to trend all month in remembrance of the sweet, amazing singer she was.
The release of the Side A videos comes only a couple of weeks after her autopsy report was completed, determining that her cause of death was from “gunshot wounds” to her chest and head. Christina was tragically murdered by a fan during a meet and greet outside of her Orlando show on June 10, and she was pronounced dead just one day later.
Christina’s shocking death shook the music and entertainment industry alike, with countless musicians and celebrities paying tribute to her in the weeks after her sad death. These videos are certainly bittersweet, but they’re definitely a reminder that Christina was one talented girl.
