There are no preliminaries or early rounds for this competition which gets to the good stuff right away. The format for the Women’s Synchronized 10m Platform Diving competition is simple and it goes like this: every team, from each country, gets to execute 5 dives, at the end of those dives, the 3 teams with the highest scores will be awarded gold, silver and bronze accordingly. Chen has won so many medals in her career as an Olympic diver, she needs only one more gold medal to become the single greatest diver ever to compete in the Olympic games. Chen is a favorite in this competition so watch out for her to dive into the history books.
The American team of Amy Cozad and Jessica Parratto are not favored to win this difficult event. The United States will be challenged by the local Brazilian team as well as North Korea, China, Mexico, Malaysia, Canada and Great Britain. All of these teams have good shots at the podium and the Americans will need to put forth flawless efforts if they are to have a chance at medaling in this challenging contest.
