Shannon Miller may be retired from gymnastics, but that doesn’t mean the Olympic gold-medalist still doesn’t work hard to keep in shape. In fact, the mom-of-two shared her fun workout trick with HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY and we’re loving the adorable way she incorporates her little kids into her fitness routine!
Shannon Miller, 39, is one busy mom! And with two young kids at home under the age of seven, the former Olympian has gotten a bit creative with her workout routine. In fact, in her household, exercising is a family affair as she told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that she regularly works out WITH her children — talk about killing two birds with one stone!
When asked how Shannon’s current workout compares to her fitness routine 20 years ago when she was competing, Shannon got super real and admitted that with children, it’s much harder to keep an intense workout schedule. Which is why she’s learned to adapt in a brilliant way! “I have two small children (age 3 and 6) so on many days, I’m working fitness into my daily lifestyle,” Shannon revealed to us.

“We’ll play tag in the yard. We do yoga cards or play Froggy — which means a lot of squat jumps for mom. If I have a 45-60 minute block of time I do the elliptical or go for a long walk.” Pretty smart — not to mention FUN, right? We love Shannon’s innovative way of working out as a busy mom.
“When I’m more pressed for time or just want to add to my cardio, I do 10 minute fitness routines that work my whole body,” the gold-medalist continued. “I even started taping them for my YouTube channel so that anyone can follow along and grab at least a short workout to get that burst of energy.”
Sounds like Shannon, who ranks as the most decorated gymnast, male or female, in U.S. history, definitely knows what she’s doing when it comes to balancing her role as a mom and her own healthy living habits. But of course she also leaves room for a little indulgence — and for her, that comes in the form of Hershey’s chocolate!
“I typically have at least one piece of chocolate day,” Shannon revealed. “I keep just the regular milk chocolate Hershey’s bar in my refrigerator at all times. It’s what I grew up with and just makes me feel like a kid again.” Aw! This year marks Shannon’s 20th anniversary of winning big at the Olympics with her U.S.A. team nicknamed the Magnificent Seven. Talk about an epic throwback!
