Jason made a startling return to Rosewood on the Aug. 9 episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ so he could warn Alison to stay away from Mary Drake. Plus, Ezra got a call about someone from his past, and Noel Kahn became a prime suspect! Read our recap below.
What started as a toast to Aria’s (Lucy Hale) engagement, quickly turned into a murder investigation, as Sara Harvey’s death was brought to light on the Aug. 9 episode of Pretty Little Liars. Of course, this only triggered more fear in the liars than they already felt, so Spencer (Troian Bellisario) started investigating why Jenna returned to Rosewood. And during a chat with Toby (Keegan Allen), Spencer discovered Jenna came back to seek forgiveness — she also tried to kiss Toby! Their chat was cut short, however, when Toby learned there was trouble at home — his fiancee was attacked!
Elsewhere, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) disguised himself as a masseuse to keep Jenna distracted while Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer raided her room in hopes of finding her laptop (to try and find out more information about A.D.). No laptop was found, but they were forced to hide under the bed when Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) entered the room in a fit of rage. And when he placed a file on the floor — the very same one Spencer gave to Toby a few episodes back — they realized he was the one who broke into Toby’s home and attacked his fiancee.
Furthermore, Jason came back to Rosewood and immediately upon his return, he served Mary Drake (Andrea Parker) with a court order, showing he was appointed as Alison’s main caretaker. He then told Mary to pack up her things and get off his property.
Aria and Ezra (Ian Harding) also started planning their wedding this week, but in light of Sara’s recent murder, Ezra thought it might be a better idea to elope in Tuscany — and get as far away from Rosewood as possible. But before Aria could make a decision, Jason texted her and asked to meet up. We discovered they dated at some point over the last five years, but he only phoned Aria so she could help him get through to Ali. Jason said Alison seems to be brainwashed by Mary. Over dinner, however, Mary told Jason and Ali about a storm cellar she and Jessica used to hide in, proving Jessica may have been the “evil twin.” So the liars headed there the next night to see if they could find anything. They had a feeling that if Jessica had a storm cellar, maybe she kept secret information inside. And they were right! In a series of file cabinets, the girls found files on each and every one of them — everyone except Aria, that is. Why? Because A.D. already took it. He also lured the girls out of the storm cellar before lighting the whole place on fire. Then, he threatened them — if they find out who he is before he finds out who killed Charlotte, they’ll die.
Oh, and the girls discovered that Mary has another child — one that would be around their age right now. Could that person be A.D.?
Finally, as Aria and Ezra were about to leave for Italy, he got a knock at the door. It was the FBI, who said they have reason to believe his ex, Nicole, is still alive. It looks like that call Aria got from “Nicole” really was from her.
