Lea was born with male reproductive organs before undergoing reassignment surgery according to a report by TeleSurTv. Lea has enjoyed an active career as an international model. She has posed in magazines and on runways all over the world. Her style has been a part of fashion from Italy to Brazil and everywhere in between. This is not the first time Lea has broken new ground as a transgender. She was also the first to be contracted with a major beauty company. Her appearance at the Rio games is the first time a transgender has been featured in front of a worldwide audience. Congrats Lea!
The opening ceremonies were off to a rocky start as the star of the show, soccer great and Brazilian super star Pelé, 75, pulled out at the last minute. On Aug. 5th, the day of the event, it was announced that Pelé would not be able to light the torch as scheduled citing health issues leaving officials scrambling for a replacement.
