Fans are anxiously waiting for Drake and Eminem’s rap battle, but it looks like Drizzy’s going to have a different feud to deal with first. During his NYC concert on Aug. 4, the rapper totally called out the radio station that first started the rap battle rumor — it is SO on!
“F*** Hot 97,” Drake, 29, said to a massive crowd, referencing New York City’s top hip-hop radio station. “I told Hot 97, fire Funx Flex, then I’ll do your show.”
Okay, here’s some background: Funk Flex actually isn’t even the DJ who brought up an alleged feud between Em and Drake, but the 29-year-old still has beef with the radio host, stemming from his feud with Meek Mill. But it was DJ Ebro who first got fans talking about Drake and Eminem going head-to-head.
“I told Drake that I heard the rumor Eminem was going to gear up to come after him,” Ebro explained earlier this week. “He laughed. He was like, ‘That’s not gonna happen.’ He’s like, ‘He’d never do that, and if he did, I got something for him, too.”
So even though Ebro’s story had Drake insisting that a rap battle probably wouldn’t go down, it got fans totally fired up about the possibility, and the Internet has been buzzing ever since. But, now, it seems like Funk Flex, not Eminem, is the guy Drake has to worry about! “Hahahaha!!! 7pm Sat I got a story to tell!” Flex tweeted after Drake’s show. “@Drake u gonna learn!”
Oh, but here’s some exciting news: During the concert, Drake also told the crowd that he’d just gotten out of the studio with Kanye West, 39 — could their collaboration album be coming sooner than expected?!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Drake going after Hot 97? Do you think Funk Flex has something good to share?
