Blake Shelton held nothing back about his split from Miranda Lambert on his latest album — and you can expect her to do the same. The country singer has been working hard on new music, and in a new interview, she promises fans they’ll hear about what she went through.
“I’ve never hidden anything or tried to be too mysterious,” Miranda Lambert, 32, tells Billboard. “i’m pretty straightforward in my music. I always have been and that hasn’t changed. With my songwriting, it’s taking a journey with what’s been going on in my everyday life — good, bad, ugly and everything in between. I feel like the right thing to do was just come out with something really honest.”
Obviously, we all know about the tough divorce Miranda went through from Blake Shelton, 40, in July 2015, and how he quickly moved on with Gwen Stefani, 46, so there’s no doubt she’ll be singing all about that if she’s really being honest. Of course, putting it all out there is not an easy thing to do, and the country super star admits she’s “nervous as hell” for fans to hear what she’s been working on.
If her first new single, “Vice,” is any indication of what we can expect from the rest of the record, due out before the end of the year, then she’s certainly going to sing about heartbreak and get emotional. But, don’t worry, we’ll still get some of that sassy Miranda we’ve grown to know and love.
“I’m never going to have an album that’s quote-unquote a ‘heartbreak album,'” she explains. “Because everybody has bad moments, and then you come out of it and you have a great moment, and then you have some somber times. I want an emotional journey, because that’s what life is, and I want to document that. But I don’t think anybody’s going to listen to this new project and say, ‘OOH, it’s so sad.’ Yeah, there’s sad songs. But I’ve had sad songs on every record I’ve made. There’s also some good old classic country, and some rock ‘n’ roll and my signature in a few songs.”
Ummmm, it’s safe to say that we can’t WAIT to hear what she’s been working on, and until then, we’ll be listening to Vice on repeat!
