When it comes to the ongoing feud between Kanye West and Taylor Swift, Jared Leto is a neutral party. The actor covered the August issue of ‘GQ Style’ and got candid about his feelings on the celeb war. Get the scoop here!
Jared, 44, is NOT picking sides; the Suicide Squad actor has love for both Taylor, 26, and Kanye, 39, despite their infamous battle that was revived when Kanye’s “Famous” song was released. “He’s a friend and has always been. Kanye has always been the nicest person to me, kind and generous. I think he’s a talent, and I really appreciate his ability to speak his mind,” Jared told GQ. ““I’m very different. I’m very careful and cautious because I don’t want to deal with the other things that come along with speaking out like that. But I do appreciate that in other people.” It may seem like he’s on Kanye’s side all the way, but just keep reading!
Jared is also a Tay super fan! “She’s great. She triggers a conversation with myself about what’s possible. And you know, the thing I like about Taylor is she’s a self-made woman,” Jared added. “I see that in my mother [Constance Leto]. There were probably points in Taylor’s career where someone else maybe would have been knocked off balance by criticism or other challenges, and she just kept marching forward.”
But interestingly enough, the actor’s sweet endorsement for Team Taylor comes only months after he totally dissed the “Bad Blood” singer in a leaked video on TMZ in Dec. 2015! In the video he stated that he “doesn’t give a f**k about” the singer. He later clarified his comments on Twitter, saying he actually admires Taylor, but his latest interview might be another way to smooth things over with the Swifties.
But the Thirty Seconds To Mars singer isn’t the only one staying out of the crossfire. It appears that Cara Delevingne, 23, and Gigi Hadid, 21, are stepping aside as well because of their affiliations with both parties. So Jared may not be able to choose between Taylor and Kanye, but there was a side he was able to pick in the upcoming summer flick, Suicide Squad. Jared is definitely playing for Team Evil as the Joker in the film and we’ll just have to see how that team works out for him when Suicide Squad premieres on August 5.
