It is back on! Fight fans will get to see Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko in a epic rematch on Oct. 29, for the heavyweight title. Keep reading to learn how the champ’s drug ban was lifted and why this amazing fight almost wasn’t going to happen.
Because the timing and other circumstances were so questionable surrounding a positive drug test, world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, 27, was able to go to court and overturn the ruling that stopped his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, 40, says a report from British news outlet The Sun. This is great news for fight fans as Tyson’s ban has been lifted!
This allows the rematch everyone wants to see. These two monsters fought once before. Tyson, from Manchester, England, took the title from Wladimir, after dominating him in 12 rounds, in a fight on Nov. 2015 in Germany. Tyson won that bout by unanimous decision and now will be able to give Wlad, the champ from Ukraine, a chance to win that belt back. Amazing!
Here are more of the details to this wild story. Samples from Tyson were taken 9 months prior to him winning the belt from Wlad. The sample only had small amounts of an illegal substance says the report. A second test from Tyson was totally clean and other tests since have been negative too! Ultimately, cooler heads prevailed. The champ’s legal team have won in court and he has been cleared to fight. The rematch is on!
