Vote Yeezy! It’s no joke. Kanye West is still running for president in 2020 and he’s taking his bid for the White House very seriously. Ye explained in a new interview that his campaign is not about ‘politics,’ but making a positive ‘difference’ for everyone in the entire world!
“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views. I don’t have views on politics,” Kanye West, 39, said during a BBC Radio 1 interview, set to air in full on Aug. 1, per Billboard. A preview of the talk showed that Yeezy is determined win the 2020 election. “I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive, I’m going to try to do it.”
“We are numb,” Kanye added, thinking of everyone from Sandra Bland to Philando Castile to the officers killed by the deadly attack in Dallas. “We’re numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago a year. We’re numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July. We’re numb to places on the Earth that we don’t live – like our life is okay but it’s okay for other people’s lives to not be okay.”
Well, Kanye definitely sounds presidential. Maybe Donald Trump, 70, can learn a thing or two from the “Famous” rapper? It’s been nearly a year when Kanye shocked the world by dropping the political bombshell at the 2015 MTV VMAs. “It’s about new ideas, bro. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” he said before announcing his campaign.
Yeezy has certainly been working on his diplomacy skills – sort of. Yeezy went on another one of his trademark Twitter tirades on July 30, tearing down the feud between Jay Z’s, 46, music service Tidal and Apple Music. “F*ck all this d*ck swinging contest. We all [are going to] be dead in 100 years. Let the kids have the music,” he said.
Wow. If he can work out a deal between Tidal and Apple, who knows what he could do? Maybe he can try to broker a peace treaty between him, Kim Kardashian, 35, and Taylor Swift, 26? Would that get the Swifties’ vote?
Will you vote for Kanye in 2020, HollywoodLifers? He seems determined to run in four years – do you think he’ll still campaign in 2020, or will he give up by then?
