Cameron Douglas is a free man. After serving nearly seven years in prison for drug charges, Michael Douglas’s son is ready to trade his jail cell for the best sellers list, as Cameron’s reportedly planning to write a tell-all book about journey from Hollywood to hell!
The 37-year-old Cameron Douglas was quietly released from jail and he’s ready to share his story with the world, according to Page Six. The troubled son of Michael Douglas, 71, and Diandra Luker was initially sentenced to five years for possessing heroin and selling drugs (including methamphetamine) in 2010. He wound up serving more time after confessing to smuggling drugs into prison.
If going to jail wasn’t bad enough, Cameron spent two whole years in solitary confinement while locked up in Maryland’s Cumberland Federal Corrections Institute. He was scheduled for release in early 2018, but he’s free now and living in a halfway home. Hopefully, the home helps to inspire him, as he’s reportedly working on a book about his Hollywood upbringing.
“Cameron [wants to talk] about his struggle being the song and grandson of Hollywood Icons,” a source tells Page Six. Cameron’s book will also detail “his bad decisions which led him to jail and his solitary confinement.”
It’s a safe bet that the person who will be first in line to buy this reported book will be his father. Cameron’s jail sentence starting when his father was diagnosed with throat cancer, but Michael made sure to regularly visit him. Michael also mentioned Cameron in his 2013 Emmys acceptance speech. “I’m disappointed with the system,” he said, brokenhearted that he couldn’t visit his son while Cameron was in solitary confinement. “A shout out to…Cameron, and hoping that they allow me to see him soon.”
While Cameron is reportedly ready to dish the dirt on his Douglas dynasty, his priority right now is to enjoy being on the other side of the bars. “He is staying low-key after his release,” the source tells PageSix, “and plans to spend time with his father and mother. He believes this is a new start, and a chance at a new life”
Are you glad that Cameron is out of jail, HollywoodLifers? Will you read his book when it comes out?
