When former NFL star Antonio Armstrong and his wife, Dawn, were brutally murdered by their son, their two other children, including a teenage daughter, were in the house, according to police. They were thankfully left unharmed!
Antonio and Dawn Armstrong have three children. Their 16-year-old son, AJ Armstrong, fatally shot both his parents in the early hours of July 29 at their Houston home, in a gruesome, senseless manner. Their two other children, AJ’s siblings, were home to witness the sadistic crime.
The Armstrongs have a teenage daughter and a 20-year-old son, who were both home at the time of the murder, according to Houston police. Their brother spared them in his horrific shooting, and both were completely unharmed, as Houston police homicide investigator Jimmy Dodson told the Houston Chronicle.
He called the Armstrongs an “All American family,” and was stunned by the crime. “[Antonio] was an associate pastor in the area church. He’s a great guy. The mother (Dawn) was apparently a great mother, according to family members.”

Police have not found a motive for the crime, and extended family members have said that there was reportedly no trouble in the home, according to TMZ. Their son, and murderer, was the one to call 911 after shooting his parents. Dawn died in the couple’s bedroom around 2:00am local time; AJ was arrested at the scene, where police uncovered a note that said “I’ve been watching you, and a still-smoking gun.”
Antonio was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head just hours later. While it was speculated that their son would be tried as an adult, he is being charged as a juvenile and is currently being questioned by investigators, according to local station KPRC.
HollywoodLifers, our thoughts are with the Armstrongs during their difficult time.
