Justin Bieber reportedly turned down a cool $5 million to play the RNC in Cleveland, and that has LeBron James beaming with pride. Even though it cost Justin a major payday, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that King James thinks Biebs ‘made the right choice.’
“LeBron’s not political,” a source close to the Cleveland Cavaliers player EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com, “but he’s proud of Justin for taking a stance and choosing not to perform at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.” Justin may have reportedly turned down millions of dollars to bring some Bieber Fever to Donald Trump’s, 70, GOP bash, but LeBron thinks the “Sorry” singer would have lost a lot more had he said yes.
“Bieber is madly respected in LBJ’s hood and at the Quicken Loans Arena,” the source tells HollywoodLife.com. “It would have been a bad look for Justin, one that may have resulted in him losing his Cleveland street cred and be booed every time he’s at a Cavs game.”
Justin certainly knows what that feels like, as he was mercilessly booed during the June 8 NBA Finals game in Cleveland. Biebs was shown on the jumbotron and all of C-Town turned on him. Well, Justin didn’t give Cleveland any more reason to boo him, and LeBron’s proud of that. “LeBron isn’t taking any political stance whatsoever,” the source tells HollywoodLife.com, “he just thinks JB made the right choice.
Not everyone would think turning down a $5 million dollar paycheck was the “right choice.” Yet, that was Justin’s decision after a RNC promoter reportedly approached him to play a 45-minute set as part of the convention.
The gig wasn’t going to be a political statement and the RNC promoter said that LeBron was also going to also take part in the Republican extravaganza. That didn’t turn out to be true, and after LeBron’s people warned Justin against taking the job, the Biebs said “no.”
Maybe LeBron’s pride will help Cleveland cut Justin some slack the next time he’s in town. During the night he was nearly booed out of the Q, Justin got into a fight and wound up getting tossed to the ground. However, after picking himself up, Justin partied with Cavs cheerleader, Olivia Mitnick, so the night wasn’t a total loss.
