When you’ve got the Shonda Rhimes on your side, you can’t lose. The 12-minute film was narrated by Oscar winner Morgan Freeman and featured clips of Hillary, husband Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama, a 9/11 survivor and old friends. The special also talked about Hillary’s mother, Dorothy Rodham.

After the introductory video aired, Shonda told PEOPLE, “I wanted everyone who sees it to feel like they were sitting with a friend, drinking coffee, so that had to be authentic.”
“Hillary drank tea, actually. You can’t drink coffee for five hours and expect her not to bounce off the walls,” she added. “As a writer who builds characters for a living, it was exciting to take an actual human being and pieces of who she is and see how it builds a person and her character, why she is who she is. Given the Trumpiness of the world today, we felt like we were doing the work of angels. And the best part? I didn’t have to add a plot twist!”
It’s no secret that Shonda is a Hillary fan. The Grey’s Anatomy creator has been very vocal about supporting Hillary ever since the former Secretary of State started her campaign.
Back in March 2016, Shonda and the stars of TGIT, including Scandal’s Kerry Washington, How To Get Away with Murder’s Viola Davis and Grey’s Anatomy protagonist Ellen Pompeo, united for an epic ad. Shonda and her girls pledged their loyalty to Hillary and called her a “bonafide, rolls-up-her-sleeves, fights for what’s right, in it for you, won’t back down champion for all of us.”
