Oh no! Blake Shelton may be on cloud nine now with Gwen Stefani, but he was at ‘rock bottom’ about a year ago after his dramatic split with wife Miranda Lambert. We have all the details on his emotional new interview, right here!
Blake Shelton revealed in a new interview with Billboard on July 28 that his emotional country ballads on his new album “If I’m Honest” were inspired by his brutal heartbreak caused by his divorce from Miranda Lambert. “When we recorded the vocals for some of these songs, I was only six months removed from when all the crap went down,” Blake explained.
“When you have a broken heart — at least, when I do — you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you.” Blake reveals that even then, he was still completely torn apart by the divorce. “I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell.” Poor thing!
We can see why he was so devastated. It sounds like Blake all but confirms that Miranda did in fact cheat on him at the end of their relationship, with Billboard saying “if you want to assume it describes some of the facts of his divorce, he won’t stop you,” of the song “She Has A Way With Words,” which is all about a girl lying and cheating. Yikes!
Luckily, all of the hard times are in his past now. Blake began dating Gwen Stefani in Nov. 2015 when they bonded over going through similar divorces. They have been going strong for nearly a year now, and they’ve even written and recorded a duet together called “Go Ahead And Break My Heart.” How romantic!
