‘The Hills’ is 10 years old this year, and Lauren Conrad is ready to reveal what REALLY happened. In the first promo for the MTV special, Lauren promises to talk about ‘things that we haven’t talked about before.’ Click to WATCH!
“So often, we would say, ‘If you knew the real story, like, you would understand.’ And what I’d like to do is tell that story,” Lauren, 30, says in the promo for The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now.
Lauren says that she’ll be “taking a look at what things are like now, and then we’re going to take a look back at the show and reveal things we’ve never talked about before.”
The MTV reality series ran from 2006 to 2010 on MTV. The show followed Lauren and her friends, frenemies and exes like Brody Jenner, 32, Heidi Montag, 29, Lo Bosworth, 29, Whitney Port, 31, Audrina Patridge, 31, and Spencer Pratt, 32, as they found their way in Los Angeles.
The Hills finale in 2010 shocked everyone. Lauren wasn’t in the original finale, and the final moments of The Hills showed Brody and Kristin Cavallari, 29, revealing that the show was shot on a soundstage with backdrops and props. Lauren has since defended the show, saying that not all of The Hills was fake.
“I think the story they told wasn’t a dishonest one,” Lauren said in a 2012 interview with Allure. “The way they did it sometimes was. They aren’t going to be there for everything. Sometimes two of their main characters will get into a fight, and that’s important to the storyline. The [producers] need that reenacted.”
An alternate ending, featuring Lauren, was revealed in 2013. Instead of the Kristin and Brody scene, the new scene featured Brody coming back to his apartment and Lauren’s sitting on his couch. Honestly, we can’t wait to see the juicy secrets that Lauren is going to spill on this special. The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now airs August 2 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
