It’s on! Kimbo Slice’s son, Kevin Ferguson Jr., is about to get into a fight. Three short months after Kimbo’s tragic passing, MMA fans will will learn if Kevin’s fighting skills match-up to his great father’s. Keep reading to learn where and when Kevin will trade blows.
Kevin Ferguson Jr., 24, will step into the mixed martial arts ring for the first time on August 26th, at Bellator 160 in Anaheim, California according to ESPN.com. Kevin will be following in the footsteps of his father Kimbo Slice, who was a great street brawler, turned MMA fighter and YouTube sensation. Kimbo’s life and career were tragically cut short when he died from heart failure on June 6th, 2016 at the age of 42.
Kevin is not a total rookie in the fight game. In March of 2016, he won his first amateur match, beating his opponent in the first two minutes of the first round. Kevin began his training in Connecticut before bringing his skills to Southern California to learn from the best. Kevin has been working with some of the top veterans in the sport including Antonio McKee and other Bellator fighters Bubba Jenkins and Joey Davis, according to the report by ESPN. Kimbo was also a Bellator fighter and scrapped alongside many of the same guys teaching his son now.
Kevin’s move into the world of fighting comes shortly after his father Kimbo was rushed to the hospital before losing his life to heart failure. Kimbo had lots of health issues connected with his violent career and, it was reported after his death, that he needed a heart transplant to survive. However, Kimbo died before his name made it to the donor list.
