What a bummer! Genesis Davila recently experienced the glory of receiving the sparkling crown as Miss Florida USA 2017, only to have the title stripped away just days after her big win! Find out why the stunner was quickly dethroned.
Puerto Rican beauty Genesis Davila, 24, faced the harsh reality that violating rules — even the smallest ones — can strip any pageant winner of their hard-earned title. She took home the win on July 16, but was dethroned in a jiffy after it was discovered she used professional hair and makeup artists to achieve her flawless glam for the competition. Who knew?! While being crowned, Genesis had her locks styled down in a sleek wave which cascaded down her shoulders. Her makeup featured bronzed tones and a shimmering gloss.
Grant Gravitt, executive producer of the Miss Florida USA pageant, said: “We have a zero-tolerance policy on rules,” to Miami’s ABC Local 10 on July 22. “Whether it’s something major or minor, it’s all about keeping an equal and level playing field. Unfortunately, our title holder sought an unfair competitive advantage, and that’s just not acceptable in our system.”
Grant noted that several contestants came forward and complained, prompting a further look on her Instagram page, which featured her makeup artist on other occasions. “We finally had substantial proof to link her and her vendors to her room on an evening which they were not allowed.”
Genesis still can’t believe that she no longer has the title, saying, “Even though all these false accusations and allegations and rumors have been wandering all over social media, I know that I have proof to show the world that none of this is true,” to Miami’s NBC 6 on July 25. Miss Sunny Isles Beach USA, Linette De Los Santos, who was the runner-up, has since been crowned Miss Florida 2017 in her place.
