This year’s Democratic National Convention is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia from July 25 until July 28. The official start time is 10:00 a.m. ET on July 25, with caucus and council meetings open to the general public.
The call to order comes at 4:00 p.m. ET, though, and throughout the night of July 25, we will see speeches from Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders, Astrid Silva, Karla Ortiz and Francesca Ortiz, Pam Livengood, and Anastasia Somoza, among others. The official website for the DNC is live streaming the event HERE, but you can also follow along on Twitter, where CBS News’ coverage is being live streamed, or the DNC’s app or YouTube channel. Of course, CNN is also providing 24-hour coverage.
The rest of the week will also feature big-names, with President Bill Clinton taking the podium on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama speaking on Wednesday, and Hillary Clinton formally accepting her nomination for president on Thursday. Her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, is also expected to speak that night.
The DNC follows a whirlwind Republican National Convention, during with Donald Trump officially became the GOP’s nomination for the 2016 presidential race. His children, Ivanka, Donald Jr., Eric and Tiffany all took the stage to give speeches last week, and are definitely going to be tough acts to follow. But with the President and VP coming in to support Hillary, there’s sure to be a lot to look forward to this time, too!
